Engineering Manager (f/m/x)

Permanent employee, Full-time · Hamburg / Remote
85,000 - 95,000 € per year
The role
We have big plans for Tomorrow. Our vision: Establish sustainable finance at the heart of society. That's a hell of a lot of work - so let's get started.

As Engineering Manager (f/m/x) in our Growth tech team, you will guide and further develop a team of engineers focused on delivering impactful features that drive customer and revenue growth. You’ll work with product managers and stakeholders from across the company, ensuring effective delivery that empowers the team, while fostering a healthy and ambitious engineering culture.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Translating our growth objectives into an effective delivery – from roadmap planning to implementation.
  • Leading and supporting a team of backend engineers, including one-to-ones, annual talks, and performance reviews.
  • Shaping our engineering culture and improving processes and practices across teams.
  • Partnering with our Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams to ensure alignment and communication.
  • Balancing hands-on development (e.g. Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Spring Boot) with people and process responsibilities.
  • Managing team capacity planning and enabling a sustainable, effective working pace of work.
  • Representing the team in leadership forums and keeping engineers connected with Tomorrow’s broader mission.
What we're looking for
  • You have proven experience in leading engineering teams – ideally in a cross-functional environment – and an understanding of how to integrate and grow teams with empathy, clarity, and vision.
  • You bring strong backend development skills with Kotlin or Java.
  • You have solid experience with PostgreSQL, Spring Boot, and Git.
  • You’re familiar with Docker, Gradle and GitLab CI, as well as modern dev tooling (e.g. IntelliJ IDEA, Jira, and Confluence).
  • You embrace a continuous improvement mindset – for your team, our systems, and yourself.
  • Nice to have: You might also have experience with Kafka, TDD, or AI-powered coding assistants.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • You support the idea to create a better future for everyone by using money as a force for good.
What we offer
It will be fun too, we promise! Together with more than 100 like-minded colleagues, you will work every day to win people over to sustainable finance. Our culture is based on our values, our active new work philosophy, and on clear, ambitious goals. But the best way to get to know us is to come and meet us and experience Tomorrow for yourself.
Salary
85.000 - 95.000 EUR annual gross + one-time 50.000 EUR in virtual shares

You want to work remotely?
We want to give all employees at Tomorrow the opportunity to organize their personal life and working hours flexibly and in keeping with their own requirements. Working from home and mobile work are therefore integral parts of our remote-friendly work culture. At the same time, we believe in the huge advantages of meeting up and working together in person. Our fantastic office in Hamburg is the perfect space for this and available to you any time. Our office is wheelchair-accessible, has ground-level access and offers flexible options for designing your workspace. We expect our future Engineering Manager (f/m/x) to spend a minimum of twice a month working on-site in our office. We will be happy to discuss all other details with you when we meet you (virtually) in person. One more thing: for organizational reasons, this position requires your place of residence to be in Germany.
What's the next step?
We'd like to welcome you to our community.
That is why we want to engage with you at eye level and invite you to come as you are - even if you think you don’t fit all the requirements yet.

If you're interested in working with us we need the following from you:
  • Your resume, without photo or birth information
  • Your salary expectations and earliest possible starting date.
  • A few sentences about your motivation to build the banking of tomorrow with us

Besides, we would appreciate it if you let us know how you would like to be addressed (pronoun / preferred name) so that we can take that into account throughout the application process.
