Als Director*in Engineering ist es deine Aufgabe, unsere Engineering Teams zu führen und zu befähigen, die technologische Vision von Tomorrow zu gestalten, voranzutreiben und umzusetzen. Du arbeitest strategisch daran, sowohl die bestehende Engineering Function zu optimieren als auch neue Bereiche und Themen zu identifizieren und zu entwickeln. Mit deiner Leadership-Erfahrung und deinem visionären Mindset inspirierst und empowerst du unsere Tech-Teams, bleibst gleichzeitig jedoch hands-on und nah an der Umsetzung.

Zu deinen Aufgaben gehören:
  • Du förderst innerhalb des Engineerings eine Kultur, die insbesondere auf Vertrauen, Zusammenarbeit und individueller Verantwortung basiert und vertrittst in deiner Rolle das Engineering-Team innerhalb des Unternehmens.
  • Du identifizierst Trends und Chancen zur Verbesserung unserer Prozesse und Produkte.
  • Du begleitest, befähigst und inspiriert die Engineering Leads unserer vier technischen Teams.
  • Du gestaltest zusammen mit der Agile- und Product-Function das langfristige Team Set-up sowie die dazugehörigen Kernprozesse.
  • Du nimmst dich übergreifenden (technischen) Hindernissen, die das Engineering Team betreffen an und unterstützt bei der Lösung.
  • Du stellst sicher, dass in Sachen Compliance und Security die nötigen Anforderungen erfüllt werden.
  • Du berichtest an einen unserer Co-Founder.
Was Du mitbringen solltest
  • Du bringst umfassende Erfahrung in der Softwareentwicklung und in einer vergleichbaren Leadership-/Managementrolle mit, in der du ein Engineering Department mit mehreren untergeordneten Teams geleitet hast.
  • Du hast Erfahrung in der Leitung von crossfunktionalen Teams in einem agilen Set-up.
  • Du bist versiert im Umgang mit den relevanten Technologien, z. B. Java, Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS und der App-Entwicklung bspw. mit Swift.
  • Du legst größten Wert auf Transparenz und eine professionelle Kommunikation – in Wort und Schrift.
  • Du bist in der Lage, die Teams in ihrer Autonomie zu fördern – und gibst dafür strategische Impulse zu Engineering- und Produktfragen.
  • Du arbeitest ergebnisorientiert und produktfokussiert – immer mit dem Ziel, resiliente, skalierbare Lösungen zu entwickeln.
  • Du sprichst fließend Englisch.
  • Du stehst hinter der Idee, Geld als Hebel für positiven Wandel zu nutzen und brennst darauf, mit uns zusammen ein besseres Morgen für alle zu gestalten.

Vergütung
113.000-128.000 Euro Jahresbrutto

The role

In this role, you will lead and empower the engineering teams to shape and enhance our technological vision, identifying key strategies to elevate our engineering functions. Leveraging your leadership experience, you will inspire and empower our engineers, while maintaining a hands-on approach.    

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Promoting our excellent engineering culture based on trust, collaboration, and individual responsibility, and represent our engineering team within the company.
  • Identifying opportunities and trends to strengthen our processes and product offering.
  • Enabling, inspiring and mentoring the engineering team leads of four teams.
  • Shaping the long-term team set-up and processes together with the Agile and Product teams.
  • Resolving blockages for the whole engineering team.
  • Ensuring that optimal measures for compliance and security requirements are in place.
  • Reporting directly to one of our founders.
What we're looking for
  • You have in-depth experience in software development as well as in a similar leadership/managerial role, leading an engineering department including multiple sub-teams.
  • You have a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
  • You’ve already gained technical proficiency in relevant technologies, such as Java, Kotlin, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS and app development like Swift.
  • You value and live transparency with correspondingly good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Your role understanding should include strengthening the autonomy of the teams and giving strategic impulses that encompass engineering and product.
  • You are results-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions, and a product-focused mindset.
  • You are fluent in English.
  • You support the idea to create a better future for everyone by using money as a force for good.

Salary

Our fantastic office in Hamburg is the perfect space for this and available to you any time. We expect our future Director Engineering (f/m/x) to spend an average of 1-2 days a week working on-site in our office.
